Remote Desktop Connection (RDC, also called Remote Desktop, formerly known as Microsoft Terminal Service Client, or mstsc) is the client application for Remote Desktop Services. It allows a user to remotely log in to a networked computer running the terminal services server. RDC presents the desktop interface of the remote system, as if it were accessed locally.
In this case I should have turn on my Remote Desktop because I’m using Anyplace Control to allow me to control remote PC from anywhere. I had to call Jaime Pillatura my sophomore classmate in college to gather additional information about setting up Anyplace Control software and tested successfully.
I’m not going through the details about the installation of Anyplace Control software but what I’d like to show you up here is that the basic steps in enabling Remote Desktop in Windows 7 or Vista. Important note: Remote desktop is only included in the Professional, Business, or Ultimate versions of Windows. Home editions do not have remote desktop.
To Turn On Remote Desktop
- Click Start > Computer > Right Click > Properties
- Remote Settings
- Check Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer
- Select Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)
- You’re done.
If you want to connect from computers using Vista / Windows 7 operating system on the same network you can select the (more secure) radio button. Try to run again Anyplace Control software as a host/admin and let me know if it works.
