Most of my friends are wondering why I am using a theme design by Chris Pearson called Thesis. The truth is, it’s a user friendly and the Thesis theme in general is why I signed on. Let me explain to you further.
To start with, I spent hours upon hours in front of my laptop when I started blogging almost two years ago and I was just frustrated as you are. I have been into different blogging solutions and downloaded a number of free themes in zip file into my desktop. I combed the blogosphere looking for the perfect blog theme that would combine: Google friendly design, optimal advertising placement, easy navigation, and an eye-grabbing look.
Much of my daunting experience, I discovered the perfect blog theme I was looking for was non-existent because I was just relying on free themes. It was then I finally decided to shell out $87 for a copy of Thesis – initially just to play with it, but the more I played with it more I realized that it is not just a theme – it is a WordPress framework that lets me spend time designing and customizing my site, without worrying about the back end code. Good ones play a significant role in key areas of Web development, including:
- SEO: the degree to which your code and content are organized and optimized for both search engines and people
- accessibility: your ability to reach different audiences—those with special needs, people using alternative Web browsers, mobile users, etc.
- usability: how effectively your users are able to navigate and interact with your site
- flexibility: how easy is it to get the look you want by providing rich markup for styling and customizations via a control panel
So what are you waiting for? You should be using it, too.
